During the Downers Grove Village Council Meeting, Downers Grove Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem Gregory Hos茅 read the proclamation declaring October as American Pharmacists Month. Robert Chapman, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove (CPDG) and several students from the executive board of the MWU Downers Grove chapter of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) were in attendance for the auspicious moment that deeply honored the pharmacy profession.

鈥淚 was honored to contribute by presenting a thank you speech to the commissioners and to the residents of Downers Grove,鈥 said pharmacy student and APhA-ASP president Bethany Jimenez (CPDG 鈥26). Bethany expressed her gratitude for the support of local leadership and discussed her experience in representing the University and the pharmacy program. 鈥淚 felt a strong sense of pride in showcasing the values and excellence of our institution. It was a great opportunity to connect with peers and community members, and I was able to learn about what is going on in Downers Grove.  This experience not only reinforced my commitment to the pharmacy field, but also inspired me to think about how I can contribute to healthcare in the future.鈥

Bethany also shared what American Pharmacists Month means to her. 鈥淚t provides an opportunity to reflect on the vital roles pharmacists play and to celebrate the positive impact they have on the health and well-being of our communities. I often recall specific moments when I鈥檝e been able to help patients manage their medications or assist with health-related questions,鈥 she said.

She also discussed her appreciation of her educational opportunities at 色多多视频. 鈥淎s a student pharmacist, I have an eagerness to learn and hope to use my experience to improve patient outcomes by doing my part in increasing access to healthcare. I am excited about the extensive possibilities within the field of pharmacy, and I have 色多多视频 to thank for opening the doors.鈥

The first celebration of "National Pharmaceutical Week" was held on October 11-17, 1925. During this inaugural effort, radio stations across the country broadcast special programs which emphasized the professional side of pharmacy. In 2004, American Pharmacists Month was launched to allow more time to promote the expanding role of the pharmacist. The College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove joins that effort each year in the month of October with activities and events to help celebrate American Pharmacists Month.

色多多视频 offers Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree programs on both the Downers Grove and Glendale campuses.
