This spring, the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine hosted another successful Ultrafest event on the Glendale Campus.

Led by AZCOM’s Ultrasound Interest Group, this student-driven event is an educational ultrasound symposium where healthcare students and physicians from all over Arizona come together to further their knowledge of and appreciation for sonography. The mission behind Ultrafest is to encourage student healthcare professionals to become comfortable utilizing point-of-care ultrasound, a cost-effective yet informative diagnostic tool, in clinical practice.

Participants from multiple É«¶à¶àÊÓƵ colleges and programs, as well as students from other medical schools and residents from programs as far away as Sierra Vista and Kingman attended the event. Throughout the day, field experts hosted various ultrasound workshops, covering everything from using sonography in trauma to foot and ankle pathology. At the end of the day, Midwestern students assembled into teams of four to compete in SONOWARS – a scanning competition where teams compete in different ultrasound themed activities for points and prizes.
