Biography

As a clinical research coordinator for Clinical Research Services (CRS), Dr. Montalvo brings 10+ years of experience in small animal companion medicine and biomedical research. Her focus will include managing clinical trials and collecting data, informing participants about study objectives, recruitment of study subjects, assisting with study publications and supporting all the aspects of CRS’s clinical research goals. Using her veterinary medical and research experience, Dr. Montalvo works closely with ɫƵ’s faculty, students and staff and outside collaborators on various clinical research projects. Her goal is to be an integral part of the CRS team and advance their One Health research efforts.

Dr. Montalvo graduated as a D.V.M. in 2004 from “UNEFM” and worked in small animal medicine and surgery in her home country of Venezuela until 2008. In the fall of 2008, she joined Texas A&M’s Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS) as a Research Assistant.  In this capacity, she earned a master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on genetics. She continued at Texas A&M’s TIPS after completing her master’s degree in a Post-Doctoral associate capacity from 2011-2012.  From 2013-2018, Dr. Montalvo took a hiatus from the research to focus on her family.  From 2018-2020, Dr. Montalvo worked for START Cancer Pre-clinical Studies as a project manager and then the Metis Foundation as Administrative Research Support. Dr. Montalvo brings an array of valuable research, practice, and project management experience to the CRS.
